LETTER FROM SISTER TO BROTHER
It is more than a month since I wrote you a letter. I am sorry not to have received a reply from you so far. I presume my letter has got lost somewhere and perhaps you are not in receipt of it.
I am repeating the contents of my letter written earlier to you. I have secured admission here in B.Ed. and the session has started. Our studies have also started. But I have now yet been able to buy all the books needed. Would it not be kind of you to sent books for B.Ed. from Agra ?
I am enclosing herewith the list of books which I could not have here and which I am in urgent need of. I hope you would send the books asked for at your earliest possible.
I am living in the college hostel, which is situated beside the bank of the Ganga. This is very beautiful place. The sunrise scene is indeed very charming and capivating. I would like you to come here and visit the place.
How is Ravi going on with his studies ? I would be happy to see him selected for P.M.T. for which constraint hard work is very necessary. What is the progress of Poonam and Nilam in their studies? Kindly pay greater attention to Bhabhiji because, as you say, she has not been keeping fit for the last half year. She must take sufficient rest and have a good diet.
Convey my namaste to Bhabhiji and love to all children. Hoping to hear from you soon.
Your affectionate sister,

LETTER FROM SISTER TO SISTER
I hope this finds you and Jeejaji in the best of health and spirit. I is more than three months since you were married and left for Bombay, but to my utter surprise I am not in receipt of a single letter from you. I fail to understand who you have not been able to write a letter to us so far. Are you so preoccupied with Jeejaji that you have forgotten all--Papa, Mummy and me ? I wish that both of you should always be happy but at the same time I would ask you to write to us from time to time. Also do not forget to write letters to Papa. I found Mummy very much worried about you when I visited her last time about seven days back.
How is Bombay ? Before marriage how crazy you were to see Bombay and now I think you must have visited all the important places there.
We are all very well here. Your Jeejaji often remembers you. Guddu has now started lisping. Rajiv goes to school. In the beginning after his admission we found it a hard task to send him to school. Thanks to the care and affection shown to him by his teachers, he is now always eager to reach school in time.
Rest is fine, With love from all of us.

LETTER FROM SON TO FATHER PRAISING SCHOOL
My dear Daddy,
I hope this finds you in the best of your health. I am very happy to write to you from this school for the first time.
I am lucky enough to be admitted in this school. It is a big school imparting education to about two thousand students. There are 35 sections each containing more than 60 boys. The boys are so disciplined and well mannered that despite over-crowding of classes there is no noise at all. The teacher here enjoy great regard and respect of the students. They in turn put their heart and soul into their teaching and endeavour to give their best to the students. Once a week we have a debating competition, sometimes in Hindi and sometimes in English. Cultural activities form a very important part of education in this college. Games and sports are immensely encouraged, rather, it has been made compulsory for all boys to take part in some game or the other.
The Principal of the college is a fine gentleman and proficient in administration. The most amazing thing about him is that he knows the majority of students personally. The teachers here are all well qualified and hence well-paid. They are free from the ignoble disease of engaging private tuition's. They work hard and strive to bring the best of results.
The school possesses a big building. Its lawns sprawl over a wide area. It has got its own stadium. This year many items of All-India Inter School winter games were staged on our stadium.
I really love my school. I have got very good friends over here. They are studious and hard working. We never waste a minute over gossips. Most of the boys are scholarship holders.
How are Bablu and Rani ? I remember them very much. Kiss them on my behalf. Please convey my Namaskar to Mummy. More to say when I come home during Dipawali holiday. Rest is fine.

We hope you will acquit yourself with the same credit as you did in your previous job. It is perfectly true that work is worship. We are proud of the fact that even as a girl you put forth devotion and dedication in full measure to every work you were asked to do.
May God shower his blessings on you and enable you to work with all your might and main. Our blessings always remain with you.

LETTER TO ELDER BROTHER
My dear brother,
You left this place on 10th and it is more than 15 days that we haven't heard anything from you. Papa and Mummy are too much worried.
What about your studies? Has the teaching started in your college? Which subjects have you finally chosen? I hope you must have made new friends in the University, because you are so clever in making friends. Mummy says you have to avoid the company of bad friends, who do nothing except wasting time.
I have secured admission in 1st year science in the local college. We did not face any problem because the selection for admission was made purely on merit and I being 1st class, my position was third in the list of selected candidates.
Independence Day was celebrated in our college with gaintly and enthusiasm. We took out a Prabhat Feri in the morning. On this day we took pledge to serve our country to the best of our ability and capacity. There was a good cultural programme held on this occasion. I took part in a one Act Play staged in the college under the auspices of the college Dramatic Society.
Papa and Mummy are very keen about your health. They say you should be very regular in your food habits and should nor forget to take fruits. I hope you will come during Dassahara holidays.
My namaskar to you. Papa and Mummy convey their their blessings to you.

LETTER TO FATHER CONVEYING THE NEWS OF PASSING THE POST GRADUATE EXAMINATION AND ASKING FOR HIS ADVICE ON THE FUTURE COURSE OF ACTION
My dear father,
By the grace of God and blessings of you all I have passed M. Sc. in 1st division. The news of my success has been conveyed to me by my friend who went to the university to see the result.
Please advise me as to what I should do now. Should I take admission in M. Sc. (Tech) or should I go in for some job ? I am of the opinion that it is not use doing M. Sc. in technology because of the heavy unemployment among engineers. Some of my teachers suggest that I should join research. I shall get scholarship of Rs. 600/- per month for doing research. So I shall earn while I learn. After my research is completed. I shall get some suitable job of a lecturer in some post-graduate college.
I very much want to be a teacher. The profession of a teacher is the most honest and noblest of all professions. There is no question of dishonesty, no accepting of bribes, and no fear of incurring God's displeasure. A teacher has the greatest opportunity of serving the society. He guides his pupils on the right path.
Besides, a teacher on an average keeps healthier than other people of his age. He lives with young boys and girls and feels young. He gets time to play games with his students. A teacher is a nation builder in the true sense. His own example of simple and honest living exercises a healthy influence on the character of his pupils.
No doubt, a teacher is not financially a well-paid worker. But a true scholar never cares for the worldly riches. Moreover, he has got ample opportunities for supplementing income by writing books. What is indeed in a teacher is the spirit for hard work. If he is hard working, he will never be in want.
For all these reasons I prefer to be a teacher to becoming an engineer or an advocate. People want to be engineers only to earn as much wealth as they want by dishonest means. There is corruption and nepotism in all the departments of government. Teaching profession is the only profession where a man can lead an honest and noble life. I hope you will appreciate my point of view.

LETTER TO MOTHER
My dear mother,
I haven't received your letter for long. I am very much worried about your health, for the last time's illness could have proved tragic, if the doctor had not been called in time. Thank God we were all there and managed to call in doctor who saved you. Now-a-days only you and Papa are therewith nobody else to look after you. It is natural for me to be worried about your health. Please post me letters as often as possible.
As regares myself, my studies are going on well. My first terminal examination are over and the answerbooks have been shown to us. You will be happy to know that this time I am leading the whole class having secured the highest marks in every subject. I am not yet satisfied because my percentage is not yet high enough to merit me college gold medal. I am working hard towards that end.
Now-a-days I feel fine. I have developed friendship with some boys who like me are quite ambitious and therefore studious. We are all working in a spirit of competitiveness and are helping one another. In the evening we go out for a walk together. We have curtailed our sports hours and have diverted them to studies.
Nothing more to pen. Please keep me informed about your health so that I may devote myself heart and soul to the studies unworried. Convey my Pranam to Papa and uncle Suresh.

With this my rank has been raised to that of a gazetted officer and my emoluments have gone up by about Rs. two hundred and fifty a month. It is all due to God's grace that I have been blessed with a promotion so soon. Please convey this news to parents to whom I shall write afterwards.

Very heavy responsibilities developed upon me when I was made in charge of relied operations for flood-affected victims of my area. I had to arrange for ration, medicine, clothes and shelter to those who were uprooted from their hearths homes by the ravages of flood. You might be delighted to know that I won the district Magistrate's medal for the bes performance of my duties. The Chief Minister who surveyed the flood-hit area was also highly impressed with our work.
Rest is all fine. My best regards to your parents and blessings to you.

LETTER TO YOUR BROTHER CONSOLING HIM FOR FAILING IN THE EXAMINATION
I have just received father's letter which informs of your failure at the Intermediate examination. Sad as it indeed is, it should not disappoint you, because the road to success leads through failures. Please don't get disheartened. I know you were sincere in your studies and it is on account of a stroke of bad luck that you couldn't succeed. Please work harder and you will come out with flying colours.
